Massage & Life in Chamonix Mont Blanc
The mountain sports’ “Capital” of the Alps, Chamonix Mont Blanc is the place to make your muscles ache and your soul soar! Whether you are running, climbing, jumping, sliding or getting a massage, you’ll find in Chamonix town the heartbeat for that adventurous vibe of the Chamonix Valley.
Lovely things about Chamonix Town besides Massage
The Aiguille du Midi telepherique/gondola takes tourists and mountaineers alike right up to the (in)famous pinnacle, from where all sorts of adventures begin, not least the schlep to summit Mont Blanc itself. We recommend even going half way up to Plan d’Aiguille and hiking across the gorgeous mountain passes to Montenvers, where you can take the cable car down.
Brevent cablecar is just a muscle-warming walk up a hill from Chamonix town centre – for wonderful winter pistes, some great off-piste, not to mention spectacular hikes and climbs in summer.
Equilibrium’s favourite internationally qualified mountain guides include Jon Bracey, Isabelle Santoire, Stu Macdonald and Neil Mackay. Club Alpin de Montagne also provide professional guides and Chamonix mountain information.
Food & Drink in Chamonix
A plethora of passionate restauranteurs offer fantastic array of meals to hungry mountaineers, mooching tourists and many athletes and artisans local to the valley.
Go to Chamonix.com for the array of venues. Equilibrium’s favourite feeds include:
Lunchtime: Moö – great Formule Midi with a plat du jour (always a veggie, meat or fish option) and brilliant buffet. If Moo is (on the rare occasion) closed, then Chambre 9 across the road, does a pretty yummy equivalent.
Dinnertime: Munchie – a firm favourite with the international-but-local community… Swedish/Thai fusion, great wines, fantastic sushi and you feel properly fed. Bizes – exquisite gourmet.
Apéro: La Folie Douce is super fun for all ages with live singers and dancers!
Massage, Mountains & Luges of Les Houches
In winter, there are friendly, fun, local pistes with an enthusiastic ski school and a crazy kids’ fun park (up Prarion) that includes curling, tubing, zip-wires and picnic tables. The forested mountains of Les Houches also boast some great little secret snow stashes, not to mention charming independent buvettes and restaurants in mountain huts.
La Cha – is worth the journey up Prarion Gondola and down a few pistes, in summer and winter… for the whole family.
Les Vielles Luges – is a magical cabine tucked into the woods off the side of the piste and is so worth the ride down or ski-tour up… absolutely amazing plats for lunch and dinner.
We also love Le Tourchet, the fun little family piste in the centre of Les Houches, also open for free Thursday night skiing. It’s located next to the beautifully located patinoire (ice-rink) and even closer to the now legendary Solerey Brewpub where you can fuel up on hot chocolate, vin chaud or delicious beers, brewed on location.
Summertime in Les Houches is just delightful for peaceful hikes, trail-running or hard-core downhill biking. The idyllic funicular train from St Gervais to Nid d’Aiguille stops at Bellevue and makes for a wonderful hike, if not guided mountaineering up to the Refuge du Gouter, on your way to Mont-Blanc.
Equilibrium Sports Massage is ideal for Les Houches’ mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running and climbing enthusiasts!
Massage after Shredding the Gn… Argentiere!
Don’t be fooled by this sleepy summertime, picturesque Alpine village. Argentiere is nestled next to the gnarly faces of Les Grands Montets, by the Argentiere Glacier. So, this is the place for serious muscle usage with ski and snowboard shredding epic lines of snowy steeps.
The intertwining summer trails of Argentiere are endless, varied and fantastic fun for enduro mountain biking and mountain trail running. Moreover, you can watch or run the legendary Chamonix Marathon and ultra running races of the UTMB winding through this special village.
Rock climbers of all levels can find some hidden climbing gems and instagram-able epics amongst the trails and rock faces surrounding Argentiere.
Equilibrium offers Sports Massage in Argentiere at your residence, so you can hit the trails again with healthy muscles!
